DesignShift: From Play to Win to Play to Play

Two squirrels on a branch. In the middle is the DesignShifts logo. The text from play to win to play to play is shown.

“We're not playing to win, we're playing to play. And ultimately, playing is fun. Perfectionism gets in the way of fun. A more skillful goal might be to find comfort in the process.”

- Rick Ruben

DesignShift: From “Play to Win” to “Play to Play.”

Play, like creativity, is a state of freedom. With expectations of outcomes removed, we can give into the moment. We can be with what is.
Play, joy, and well-being serve as reminders of what life is all about. Existing in a place without the expectation of productivity or success.

The other day, I was doing a yoga practice online and the teacher asked: How would my experience change if I simply believed that my only responsibility was to cultivate joy? I will ask you the same question.
