DesignShift: From Expecting And Evaluating to Experiencing And Enjoying
What are we losing out on when we’re so focused on what we have to gain?
Is optimizing for outcome taking us away from enjoying the actual experience?
In a world guided by metrics and data, I can’t help but think about how often our expectations get in the way of being fully present in the experience.
We often forget that the best experiences are those that can’t be evaluated or explained. The best experiences are those that cannot be put into words, but are felt deeply in our hearts and our bodies.
DesignShift: From expecting and evaluating to experiencing and enjoying.
Is questioning what we can get out of an interaction natural or is it a result from living in a transactional society where our time and attention is constantly bought and sold to the highest bidder? We only have so much time. We have to prioritize what we give attention to. But in the evaluation of what we could “gain” later, are we losing out on the opportunity to just be what we have now?
As we move into a new year, I want to trade measurements for meaningful moments. I want to design experiences whee we focus more on experiencing than on explaining. I want to Shift my focus to the here and now.
